Wenping Ma(马文平) is a senior researcher of the Center for Applied Energy Research (CAER) at the University of Kentucky. Dr. Ma earned BS and MS from the Department of Chemical Engineering, Inner Mongolia University of Technology in 1992 and 1995, and won PhD in Chem Eng from the Shanxi institute of coal chemistry, Chinese academic of science (CAS) in 1998. After graduation, Dr. Ma worked at Dalian university, meanwhile, Dr. Ma carried out his postdoctoral research in the Dalian institute of chemical physics from 1999 to 2001. Dr. Ma extended his postdoctoral experience in Texas A&M University and West Virginia University from 2001-2006 (work with Profs. D.B. Bukur and E.L. Kugler). In 2006, Dr. Ma joined the CAER of the University of Kentucky, primarily focused on developing Fischer-Tropsch process, a heart process for the XTL technology (X= coal, biomass, natural gas and CO2).  Dr. Ma’s research interests are reaction kinetics and mechanism, catalysts development and characterizations in C1 chemistry, hydrotreating and H2 production by reforming and WGS reaction. Dr. Ma published 80+ scientific papers and holds 6 patents in the CTL and hydrogen production areas.
